We often hear “Don’t be afraid” — but when it comes to God, Scripture calls us to fear Him. Not out of terror, but out of deep reverence. This fear is not shrinking away — it’s standing in awe of His holiness, majesty, and power. It’s the humble recognition that He is God and we are not. Psalm 111:10 (ESV) says: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding.” The fear of God shapes how we live: • It humbles our pride. • It calls us to holiness. • It teaches us obedience, not out of mere duty, but out of love. Hebrews 12:28-29 (NIV) reminds us: “Let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our ‘God is a consuming fire.’” Today, ask yourself: Do I stand in awe of God? Or have I become too casual with the Holy One? Let’s return to the fear of the Lord — not fear that drives us away, but fear that draws us closer in surrender
